Top 5 Universal Design for Learning Series

The Top 5 Universal Design for Learning Series is a set of workshops that will help you design content that supports all learners in a proactive way, increases retention, and makes it easier for you to adapt if accommodations are needed.

Overview

A circular set of arrows with the words Engagement, Representation, and Expression in the arrows. UDL is in the middle of the circle.

Would you like to:

  • Design your content so that all learners are more successful in your course?
  • Retain learners in your course, so they are more likely to complete a program of study?
  • Better understand the needs of learners with disabilities in your course?
  • Be proactive about course design, so that learners will require very few adaptations when they request an accommodation?
  • Learn a few strategies you can apply right away to your course?
  • Be the first Penn State campus to make all of your courses designed in this way?
  • Obtain a certificate or badge demonstrating this expertise?

Well, the Office of the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses (OVPCC) is offering a Top 5 Universal Design Strategy series intended to help you do just that!  If you complete five (5) workshops in the series, you can obtain a certificate or badge to document your new skills.

You must complete three (3) core required workshops and choose two (2) electives, for a total of 5, to obtain the certificate/badge.  You can complete workshops in any order, but the syllabus workshop is a good recommended starting point.

Registration

To register for a workshop, navigate to that specific workshop page from the list below.  If a workshop is full, you can join the waitlist for the next session.  New workshops are being developed, so check back for new offerings!

Note: There will be an option to join a faculty circle to continue the discussion after the workshops.
