Campus-wide Accessible Syllabus Competition

Format: All Commonwealth Campuses, Online

The University unveiled an accessibility tool in Canvas called Anthology Ally. Many of you have already spent considerable effort using the tool to create accessible course materials in your Canvas courses!  In an effort to recognize, celebrate, and reward your accomplishments in moving the dial towards more accessible courses, we are offering a competition for faculty.

Here’s the plan:

  1. Use the Anthology Ally Tool in your Fall 2024 Canvas courses to check the accessibility of your syllabus (PDF, Word, or Canvas Page). If necessary, follow the guidance to improve the score until the indicator turns green (good or perfect). Reach out to your local instructional designer if you have any questions about the guidance provided by Ally.
  2. When your syllabus shows a green (good or perfect) indicator score, fill out the Accessible Syllabus Competition Submission.  Deadline is August 30th.
  3. You should indicate which course(s) meet the requirements. (This is a self-reported achievement, no need to submit your syllabus.)  Feel free to report multiple courses in one submission or complete the form multiple times to document each course that meets the requirements.

Each course with an accessible syllabus enters your name into a drawing for a Penn State water bottle. We Are! Multiple prizes will be awarded!
