What is the Engaging Student Series?

Teaching and Learning with Technology’s Engaging Students Series (ESS) focuses on course revisions intended to help keep students focused and participating in class. ESS was initially launched to support Penn State instructors as they prepared to teach their summer 2020 courses online and to provide them with best practices for online instruction. Due to the popularity of the series, the sessions have been expanded to promote the alignment of technology tools with learning outcomes and pedagogical strategies in a variety of teaching formats.

Topics Include:

  • Planning for student engagement,
  • Engaging students synchronously and asynchronously,
  • Engaging students through assessment and multimedia assignments,
  • Quantifying the time students spend in engaging courses,
  • Creating community online,
  • Advancing inclusive pedagogy via the intersaction of instructional technology and DEI,
  • …and much more!
