About the Module
As we continue to adapt our teaching in the current age of GenAI, we are often looking for guidance specifically on how to assess students. It is worth taking some time to consider the assessments you are using and how you might adapt them.
You are invited to participate in the independent asynchronous, self-paced learning module titled, “Redesigning Assessments in the Age of AI.” In this module, you will:
- Explore AI risks that are inherent to certain assessment types
- Reflect on possible pathways for redesigning assessments – refining, modifying, or restructuring
- Summarize how you can make assessment expectations clear to students
After enrolling in the course, you will be paired with an ID Partner who will provide feedback on the three assignments in the module. Upon successful completion of the module, you will earn a digital badge. Approximate time investment is 2-3 hours, with most time spent engaging in a guided reflection of how to redesign an assessment.
Assignments
Assignment 1: AI Risk Assessment
In this activity, you will test one of your existing assessments by inputting it into an AI tool, such as Microsoft Copilot or any generative AI tool of your choice, to see how well the AI tool can complete the task. This exercise will help you to identify areas of vulnerability in your assignment. At this stage of the module, we are simply seeing how well the AI can perform a task that you ask of students.
Assignment 2: Redesign Phase 1
You will complete a guided reflection activity to consider learning outcomes and other assessment constraints that will impact your level of assignment redesign.
Assignment 3: Redesign Phase 2
In this final assignment of the module, you will complete a guided reflection activity to determine the level of assignment redesign you’d like to apply to your assignment (restructure, modify, or refine).
