Groups
There are various faculty groups across the University that focus on Universal Design for Learning and accessibility.
Accessibility and Universal Design for Learning Teaching Circle
This circle will help you learn how to make your course more universally designed and accessible for your learners. Faculty who teach online or in-person will find value in this circle. The group meets the first Thursday and Friday of every month. A hot topic is presented, along with time for burning issues, resource sharing, and discussion. Each Thursday and Friday pair will include one hot topic, but different faculty attend, depending on their schedule. For more information on the UDL and Accessibility Teaching Circle, visit Accessibility and Universal Design for Learning Teaching Circle.
Accessibility Wall of Fame/Champions
If you are working on your course and your Anthology Ally score has reached 90% or above, please consider submitting your course to the Accessibility Wall of Fame. These faculty have dedicated time to making their courses more universally designed and deserve to be recognized. If you are looking for guidance on how to begin working on your course, perhaps you might find a friend on your campus from this list. They have done it!!
Top 5 Universal Design for Learning List Serve
Faculty who have attended workshops in the Top 5 Universal Design for Learning Provost Endorsement series are invited to join an email list serve, where the conversations around universal design for learning and accessibility continue. You’ll receive 1 email a month with information centered around UDL and accessibility. Every attempt is made to focus on actionable strategies and tools available to you through the University. Folks who haven’t attended Top 5 workshops are welcome to sign-up via the Top 5 UDL Registration Form.
Raise Your Ally Score Sessions
Find an Accessibility Buddy!
If you would like to schedule time in your calendar to work on your course, consider joining an Accessibility Co-working session. These Zoom sessions are of the “drop in” nature, so you can pop in when you have questions or you just want to work in parallel with others doing the same work. For more information, visit the Accessibility Help page. As a result of the Top 30 Initiative, we have created course-specific drop in sessions. If you are interested in joining or creating a course-specific group, please do not hesitate to reach out to Jen Wagner (jlw83@psu.edu).
