The Teaching Online Program (TOP) is an asynchronous series of professional development courses focused on best practices for teaching online. In May 2022, Levels 1 and 2 were made available. We are happy to announce that Level 3 is now available for faculty enrollment.
The three levels each consist of four modules: Canvas, Multimedia Tools and Techniques, Design and Development, and Best Practices in Teaching Online. Level 1 is considered the basic level and an introduction to online teaching. Faculty who are new to online teaching at Penn State are encouraged to explore this level. Level 2 moves into more advanced information. Level 3 builds upon levels 1 and 2 to promote further refinement of online teaching practices by revising some existing assignments and learning activities used in online courses.
Participants are not required to complete all of the levels. If a faculty member would like to jump into levels 2 or 3 based on their prior online teaching experience, they are encouraged to do so.
